Sleeping with the Gasman is a book written by an ex consultant anaesthetist in the United Kingdom.
Jazz qualified in medicine in 1988. After several years of training he became a consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.
Jazz worked in over thirty institutions in Britain and abroad. The places he worked abroad included the Falkland Islands, Cyprus, Gibraltar and Belize.
Whilst practicing in the United Kingdom he decided to freelance around the country. This offered him greater flexibility with his young family.
Working as a freelance individual brings new challenges. This man was not happy with a straightforward life as most others. Walking into a new department without any real knowledge of the institution and commencing work was a very positive feeling. The immediate issue was to build confidence with surgeons and staff regarding his capabilities. After all, everyone wishes for their patients to be cared for at the highest proficient standard. The concerns of staff and surgeons were won quickly.
Sadly, Jazz’ career was ended prematurely. This after a severe road traffic accident one evening. He had written two books when living with his mother for commuting purposes. There were also the endless hotels he enjoyed.
Jazz had no intention of publishing his work. After the accident, others encouraged him to do so. He was told that he had a unique method of writing his books. Jazz took their advice.
Since Jazz stopped working in July 2019, he has become a househusband. This he enjoys very much.
People in medicine do not get the chance to resurrect their careers. Jazz’ did get that opportunity by default
Jazz has risen from the ashes like a Phoenix to find something else to do.
Never, never, never give up.
